As for the bug, that’s right where the fuel filler cap is. Though that’s an odd mod as it does not  look like a hot rod or racer

Oh all of these are taken pretty close to each other, I was on a walk. I live by Mt. Tamalpais in Larkspur, Marin County.

Then they have no idea what they are talking about. Central CA to north of the Bay Area is amazing. I’m from Hawaii but I consider this area one of the most amazing places in the world. Marin County has a huge amount of beaches and trails, redwood forests etc...
